A communication channel is the method of communication you use, eg email, face to face, etc, along with how you communicate, this is basically how you address the person eg, formally

communicating with a technical person

when communicating with a person who knows technical terminology, it is expected that you use proper terminology, and you do not need to explain everything, as the reader should already have a decent understanding of what things mean

communicating with a non-technical person

when communicating with a person who does not know technical terminology, it is expected that you use simple terminology, and that you explain what things mean in a way anyone can understand as they person reading may be computer illiterate
